Through its Chilean subsidiary, Transbiaga has just closed the contract for the lifting and assembly services of the San Gabriel wind farm. Located in the commune of Renaico, 5 km from this town and 550 km south of Santiago de Chile, San Gabriel wind farm will be composed of 61 AW132 / 3000 wind turbines of Nordex Acciona Windpower technology, a model designed to optimize the capture of energy in low wind sites.

Elevation and assembly of the San Gabriel wind farm

With 3 MW of nominal power, each wind turbine will mount a rotor of 132 meters in diameter on a concrete tower of 120 meters of bushing height, reinforced with anti-seismic technology. From the environmental point of view, after its entry into operation, scheduled for September 2019, the new park will annually avoid the emission of some 632,000 tons of CO2 per year in coal-fired power plants, with a purifying effect for the atmosphere equivalent to that of 31 million of trees.

San Gabriel will be the first wind farm in Chile to incorporate concrete tower technology that is indicated for those locations where it is important to reach higher heights in order to capture a greater wind resource and increase energy production.
